They were run close by Liverpool, extremely close, pipping them to top spot by just one point.

To get their hands on the trophy, City had to go away from home on the final day of the campaign and defeat Brighton and Hove Albion.


Without home comforts in such a tense situation, many other teams would have struggled but Pep Guardiola’s men, despite a scare when Glenn Murray opened the scoring, came through with a 4-1 victory.
