Anthony Martial transfer: The reason Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will NOT be able to sell Manchester United misfit this summer

Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United is safe despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wanting to axe him from his squad this summer.

Martial, the France international, has found his position at Old Trafford in doubt following a number of poor displays over the final months of the season.

He was one of United’s best players in the weeks immediately after Solskjaer was appointed the club’s caretaker manager, and the 23-year-old was rewarded with a new five-year contract in January.

However, less than five months after penning fresh terms, Solskjaer has become fed up by Martial, with reports earlier this month claiming the forward’s poor attitude in training is a key reason for the manager’s frustration.

Solskjaer has already admitted some of his squad may have played their final matches for Manchester United, with a major Old Trafford overhaul expected this summer.

Martial is safe at the club, however, The Mirror claim.

Man United’s co-chairman Joel Glazer is said to view Martial as the Old Trafford outfit’s ‘Pele’, with the Frenchman his favourite player in Solskjaer’s current squad.

Glazer’s backing of Martial was one of the reasons Jose Mourinho failed to sell him last summer, and the co-chairman will stand in the way of Solskjaer’s plans this summer as well.
