Leeds’ director of football praised by home fans as he helps place free scarves on seats ahead of crunch play-off tie against Derby

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has endeared himself to supporters after he was snapped putting scarves on the seats at Elland Road ahead of their crucial play-off match with Derby.

Orta was seen helping out with the final preparations ahead of Wednesday’s night game, which will see every home fan receive a free scarf on their seat as they cheer on Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The small gesture has been widely praised on social media and fans have recognised the boss for his efforts.

One fan tweeted; ‘Gotta love Victor Orta putting the scarfs our himself,’ while another wrote; ‘Victor Orta helped to put out over 30,000 scarfs around Elland Road. Great work ethic, better club. #lufc.

The winner of tonight’s clash will go through to a Wembley showdown with Aston Villa for the chance to reach the Premier League.

Leeds take a slender one-goal lead into the second leg thanks to Kemar Roofe’s strike in the first game at Pride Park on Saturday.

However, Leeds have been dealt a huge blow after Roofe was ruled out with a calf injury and will be joined on the sidelines by midfielder Adam Forshaw and defender Pontus Jansson.

Villa made it through to the Championship play-off final with a penalty shootout victory against West Brom at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

The two sides could not be separated after 120 minutes with the tie ending 2-2 on aggregate.

Penalties were needed to put Villa through to the final with Tammy Abraham scoring the winning spot kick.

The crunch clash between the Championship high flyers is live on talkSPORT from 7:45pm.
