Tottenham MUST listen to Mauricio Pochettino if they want to continue remarkable progress, insists Danny Rose

Danny Rose has lauded the impact Mauricio Pochettino has made at Tottenham and on his own career, insisting the club’s hierarchy ‘must listen’ to him if they are to continue their impressive progress.

Spurs haven’t signed a single player in two transfer windows, but have still remained fiercely competitive on the field.

Pochettino’s men achieved another top-four finish in the Premier League this season, while they have also reached the Champions League final.

And speaking exclusively to talkSPORT’s Sam Matterface on Drivetime, Rose stressed that not many managers would have been able to achieve what the Argentine has in north London.

He said: “They [the board] must listen to the manager. He said recently that he needs to know what the next chapter of the club is. I fully agree with everything he says.

“Not many people could operate in the circumstances that he’s done. We had no stadium, we’ve not signed anybody.

“Tottenham are part of the big six in the Premier League and we have a different way of working.

“Not many managers would have been able to do what Mauricio has done, in terms of securing Champions League football four years in a row and finishing second, third and fourth.”

He continued: “He’s also brought through a number of young players and got them into the England squad.

“We definitely have to listen to what he thinks and what he wants and hopefully we can give him that.”

Rose, the club’s longest-serving player after joining from Leeds back in July 2007, also revealed that Pochettino made a vow to him that he’d become a fully fledged international player under his guidance.

He added: “He’s a very likeable person, he’s very calm and even when we’re losing there have only been a couple of times where he’s raised his voice.

“He’s very approachable too, so I can’t speak highly enough for him and what he’s done for my career at Tottenham.

“He’s changed me as a player and promised me he’d turn me into an England player. He fully deserves all the accolades that come his way.”
